In the coming time we have a number of visitors joining us for worship at St Giles. On the evening of 12th August the Reverend Dr. Yazid Said, Lecturer in Islam at Liverpool Hope University, will be our preacher. Known to two of our regular congregation, Yazid, a specialist in early Islam, has written of his preaching this night: ‘In my address, I will relate to my own background as a Palestinian-born Israeli and the on-going conflict, as well as to interfaith issues that are relevant both here and elsewhere.’
Again, on the evening of our Patronal Festival, 2nd September, I have invited the Reverend Peterson Feital, chaplain / minister to The Haven+London, a ministry providing counsel and spiritual support to those within the creative industries (music, the arts, theatre, social media and film), to speak to us about his vision for this ministry. The Haven is one of the innovative, pioneering projects that came as a result of drawing up the 20 | 20 Vision for the Diocese. Both speakers promise to be stimulating and perceptive.
Choir at St Albans
If you can take a trip over to St Albans’ Cathedral on Saturday, 25th August to hear the St Giles Choir singing Choral Evening Prayer at 5pm, their annual trip out for this year. I am sure that Jonathan and the choir members would be pleased to see some of those from our regular congregation. It’s only a 35 minute journey from St Pancras and then a 20 minute walk to the Cathedral itself.
Remember | 6.30pm on Sunday, 30th September
A celebratory service to switch on the lights of the tower, with the Bishop of London, Camden’s M.P. and Mayor and many others from the local community.
