I’m writing to express my joy and thanks for the weekend just gone. As many of you know we welcomed The Bishop of London to lead our patronal service of Holy Communion and Confirmation. Bishop Sarah took the service with gentleness, reverence and gravity; her words during the sermon reminded us to seek the unrelenting love of God through Jesus Christ. For me the highlight of the service was the brief testimonies given by our confirmation candidates, Andrew and George. It was inspiring two of our members give personal witness to the place of God in their lives.
The service would have not been possible without the input of so many people. I’m grateful to Jonathan and the choirs for the music provided, the bell ringers for their call to worship, Zi Ken for the flowers and to all of those who brought along food for the bring and share supper.
All in all a splendid day, giving glory to God and expressing our thanks for the Church of St. Giles-in-the-Fields and its place within our faith and lives. -Tom Sander, Rector
