There will be a lot going on at St Giles during the season of Advent and the celebration of Christmas, including opportunities for fellowship, learning and prayer... as well as quite a bit of carol-singing and a few mince pies.
You are warmly invited to share in the joy and expectancy of this season. If you would like more information about any of the services and events, please do contact us or speak to a member of clergy.
27th November 6.30pm Advent Sunday Candlelit Carol Service
Start Advent with our traditional service of Advent carols and readings, led by the St Giles Choir and Quartet. Please do come along and bring a friend to this special service. After worship everyone is invited to our Annual Parish Advent Party at the Rectory.
3rd December | Advent Parish Walk
Edward McMillan will be leading us on a riverside walk from Richmond to the Chapel Royal at Hampton Court Palace: an excellent chance for some exercise before the indulgence of the festive season takes over.
Year for the Bible 2023 | Weekly Bible Study
To kick off our Year for the Bible at St Giles, we will be commencing a new weekly Bible Study on Sundays at 5pm, meeting in the upstairs room at The Angel, next to the church.
If you haven't joined a study group before, this is the perfect opportunity to start. During Advent our theme will be "Introducing Bible Study". We will discuss the purpose and techniques of studying scripture while working through the Epistle of James. Tea will be provided and everyone will be welcome to continue to Evensong in church at 6.30pm.
10th December | Advent Quiet Day
We will be joining together with our neighbouring parish of St. George's Bloomsbury for a day of reflection and prayer at The Royal Foundation of St. Katherine in Limehouse. This builds on the success of last year's quiet day and provides an opportunity to take time for spiritual preparation amid the hectic preparations of the season.
15th December | West End Wassailing
St Giles and our neighbouring parishes and church communities will be taking the West End by storm with an evening of ecumenical carol singing. This promises to be a very fun evening, so even if your singing extends only to belting out O Come, All Ye Faithful, make sure you join in!
18th December 6.30pm | Service of Nine Lessons and Carols
We begin to look towards Christmas on the last Sunday of Advent with the traditional service of Nine Lessons and Carols, led by the St Giles Choir and Quartet. This candlelit service really marks the start of the festive season and is another great opportunity to bring along friends and family.
21st December 6.30pm | Midweek Carol Service
Everyone in the local community - as well as those of you who work in the parish - are warmly invited to join us for a joyful service of carols, mince pies and mulled wine.
